Affirmation – To Be A Safe Driver

April 7, 2010 by Johnny

I am a safe driver

I obey the rules of the road because they protect me. In order to share the road with others, I must be respectful of the law. Driving is both a responsibility and a privilege.

Speeding is useless. Keeping my life out of danger is worth more than saving a few minutes in my commute by speeding. I have the strength to resist the urge to be reckless.

To avoid feeling the need to speed, I schedule my morning in such a way that I have ample time to arrive at my destination on time, even through heavy traffic. I enjoy a calm pace in my commute because I plan ahead.

My attention is fully devoted to what is going on around me. While driving, I refrain from sending text messages or talking on the cell phone. I have time in my schedule to finish getting ready, eat breakfast, and read the paper before I get in my car.

I am careful to drive defensively. My eyes are open to the dangers that may be ahead. I drive defensively to remain alert to what the drivers around me are doing.

On nights out on the town, I always pre-arrange a designated driver to take me home. I refrain from drinking and driving for my safety and the safety of the other drivers on the road.

Today, I choose to drive safely. I plan ahead so I can focus all of my attention on the road while I am behind the wheel.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Why is it important to obey the rules of the road?
2. How can I increase the safety of my passengers and other motorists?
3. Why is drinking and driving a serious safety issue?
