I Shield Myself From Stress

I remove obstacles to my health and happiness as much as possible.

I slow down. I set realistic goals and manage my commitments. I focus on one task at a time. I take breaks throughout the day to renew my energy and sharpen my concentration.

I clear away clutter. I tidy up my home and office. I give away items I seldom use or store them out of sight.

I think positive. I remind myself that change is natural, and life is filled with temporary ups and downs. I speak gently to myself and choose encouraging words.

I sleep well and exercise regularly. I am more resilient when I am well rested. Plus, physical activity is a constructive way to release tension, so I lift weights and take fitness classes online.

I take time each day to pause and reflect. I breathe deeply and scan my body to loosen up stiff shoulders or a tight jaw. I observe my thoughts. I let go of judgements. I cultivate gratitude.

I spend time outdoors. Natural beauty makes me happy. I play in the backyard with my children and pets. I go for a walk or ride my bike.

I reach out to others. I spend time with family and friends. I share my thoughts and feelings. I ask for support when I need it. I volunteer in my community because giving to others puts my own troubles in perspective.

Today, I prevent unnecessary stress. I treat myself with kindness and compassion. I feel peaceful and secure.
